Dodgers struggles continue in Game 3 loss to Padres.
The Dodgers' offense continued their struggle from Game 2 into Game 3 of the NLDS, losing to the Padres 2–0 to put themselves in a complete win-or-go-home panic mode with the series now at 2–1, trailing one game from elimination.
The Dodgers' pitching kept them in the game, and their offense had plenty of opportunities to give themselves a winning chance, but their bats just weren't alive tonight, going 0–19 with runners in scoring position.
“They’re pitching good right now, and we’re not hitting, so we have to hit tomorrow,” said Freddie Freeman.
The Dodgers didn't create any sort of offensive spark until the top of the 5th inning on a sacrifice fly from Mookie Betts to bring in a run and get them within one.
In 32 total at-bats tonight, the Dodgers' offense was only able to muster six hits, striking out a total of 12 times.
In only 1.1 innings, Gonsolin finished with an ERA of 6.75 with one strikeout, allowing 4 hits and 1 run before being pulled out.
Game 3’s pitcher matchup will be between Tyler Anderson and Joe Musgrove.
In his postseason career, Tyler Anderson is 0–1 with an ERA of 3.86 and 6 strikeouts in 2 appearances.
Joe Musgrove has a record of 2–0 with an ERA of 3.95 and 8 strikeouts in 8 postseason appearances.
The Dodgers will stay at Petco Park for Saturday’s Game 4 matchup against the Padres in a win-or-go-home matchup at 6:37 on ESPN or local stations.
