Anthony Davis expected to miss multiple weeks.

The Lakers are taking a major blow with Anthony Davis, who has been playing the most dominant basketball for the Lakers since their bubble championship year, expecting him to miss multiple weeks with a right foot injury, a source told ESPN on Sunday.

In Friday’s win over the Denver Nuggets, Davis appeared to tweak his right foot after his lower leg collided with Nikola Jokic’s leg while the two were in midair in the paint. Davis continued to play on it for the rest of the first half, later not returning from halftime.

The Lakers' perennial big man has been playing like the all-star he was just a few seasons ago, getting some MVP talk for his consistency in big game stretches when he’s played this season.

In 25 games this season, Davis has averaged 27.4 points, 12.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 2.1 blocks while shooting 59% from the field.

Davis was previously ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Washington Wizards.

With Davis’ absence in the lineup, the Lakers’ hopes of making the playoffs might be severely harmed, displaying just how different they are as a team without the eight-time NBA all-star.

The Lakers are 12–16 and 1½ games out of the final play-in spot in the Western Conference after a 2–12 start to the season.
