Rams lose to Cowboys in second straight loss.
The Rams losing streak continues as they lose their second game in a row, staying ice cold against the red-hot Dallas Cowboys to drop their season record to 2–3.
“I love Matthew Stafford,” McVay said after their loss to Dallas. “He is competing and doing everything in his power for this team. He needs some help. We’ve got to be able to help him.”
For the first time under Sean Mcvay, the Rams are under .500 for the 2nd time in his (Mcvay's) career, with the first time being under .500 after their season opener loss to the Bills.
Matthew Stafford surpassed 300 yards throwing for the first time this season, completing 67% (28-for-42) of his passes with an interception and a touchdown that went for 75 yards on a catch and run from Cooper Kupp.
“We’ve got to find a way to get the ball in the end zone,” Stafford said. “Got to do a better job of sustaining some drives, giving ourselves some more manageable situations, and find a way to get more points.”
The Rams continued to struggle in the ground game for the second week in a row, rushing for 38 yards on 15 carries in the loss to the Cowboys. McVay said the Rams need to “be able to run the football efficiently.”
When they’re not running the ball efficiently, McVay said, the Rams are having trouble protecting, which means “you can’t give yourself a chance to let things develop.”
Cooper Kupp finished with another “only firepower” performance in the Rams offense, catching 7 passes for 125 yards on an average of 18 yards per catch and having a big play that went for a 75-yard catch and run.
Kupp is currently 1st in the NFL in catches with 49 catches (next closest is 40 catches), 2nd in the NFL with 527 yards receiving, and tied for 2nd with four touchdowns in the five games played this season.
The Rams’ next matchup will remain at home next Sunday against the Carolina Panthers at 1:05 PM PDT on FOX.
