Rams finish season 5–12 in finale loss to Seahawks.

SEATTLE — After winning the Super Bowl in the 2021–22 season, the Rams' future and possibilities for the 2022–23 season were promising. No one expected Los Angeles to have such a long Super Bowl hangover after their win to glory season, as they finished this following season with the worst record of a Super Bowl-winning team, going 5-12.

The Rams had the Seahawks on the ropes all game long, creating constant pressure on quarterback Geno Smith, forcing him to throw two interceptions, both from cornerback Jalen Ramsey.

Their battle lasted all the way to overtime, with momentum on Los Angeles' side following a missed game-winning field goal by Seahawks kicker Jason Myers, which was set up by an unsportsmanlike penalty after Geno Smith ran into cornerback Jalen Ramsey lowering his shoulder.

The Seahawks started the extra time with the football, with the Rams forcing a punt to take over on offense with a chance to win the game. Their momentum was halted when Baker Mayfield threw an interception on a deep pass intended for a wide-open Van Jefferson, underthrowing him to give Seattle safety Quandre Diggs a chance to undercut the route.

At that point, the Seahawks capitalized on the Rams' mistake, taking it down the field from the 35-yard line to set up a game-winning overtime field goal.

With the struggles the Rams had all season, from the lack of a run game to not having consistent protection for the QB, the Rams found a run game late in the season in Cam Akers, who had a strong finish to a disappointing season for the Rams running back.

Akers finished the game with 104 rushing yards on 21 carries, averaging 5.0 yards per carry, making it the third straight game with over 100 rushing yards to close out the season.

The Rams' offensive line protection is still a big question mark for L.A. going into the offseason, as is the status of head coach Sean McVay, who is rumored to leave the head coaching position because of the possibility of a rebuild in Los Angeles.
