Lakers outlast Grizzlies on Pau Gasol’s jersey retirement night.

LOS ANGELES — The Lakers defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 112–103 on Tuesday on Pau Gasol’s jersey retirement night, improving their record to 32–34 to move them into the 9th-seed play-in spot.

Pau Gasol was a part of the Lakers championship team that brought L.A. back-to-back Larry O’Brien trophies in 2009–10. At halftime, he was honored as the 12th Lakers player in franchise history to get his jersey retired, being placed up in the rafters next to Kobe Bryant's No. 24 jersey.

In a back-and-forth fourth quarter, the game came down to the final minute of the ball game, with the final nail in the coffin coming with just a little over a minute to go, as Troy Brown Jr. hit the dagger three to give the Lakers a seven-point lead and a winnable cushion.

To honor Gasol, Anthony Davis put on a masterful performance to give the Lakers legend a win on his night, finishing the night with 30 points, 22 rebounds, three assists, and two blocks while shooting 64% from the floor.

“Wilt Davis,” said head coach Darvin Ham of Anthony Davis’ performance. “That’s my nickname for him, Wilt Davis.”

The Lakers' role players helped boost the rotation and relieve some pressure off of Davis, with Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura, and Dennis Schröder all finishing with 17 points each.

To go along with his 17 points, Reaves finished with seven assists, four rebounds, and a steal in 32 minutes.

Schröder finished with nine assists, six rebounds, and one steal in 34 minutes.

Hachimura finished with six rebounds while shooting 63% from the field on 7-for-11, with a plus/minus of +22.

The Lakers' win came with the help of an inconsistent shooting night from Memphis, who shot just 24% (9-for-27) from three and 38% (36-for-93) overall.

The Lakers’ next matchup comes on Friday at home against the Toronto Raptors at 7:30 p.m. on Spectrum SportsNet and NBA TV.
