Lakers top Warriors behind Anthony Davis’ 39 points.
LOS ANGELES — The Lakers edged past the Golden State Warriors 113–105 on Sunday behind Anthony Davis’ huge night, scoring 39 points to give them momentum in their playoff hopes.
All five of the Lakers' starters finished with double figures in scoring, combining for 86 of the team’s 113 points.
“I’m truly proud of our guys just coming out and staying locked in for the duration of the game and coming away with a much-needed W,” said head coach Darvin Ham.
Anthony Davis was an x-factor throughout the game, scoring 23 points in the first half and knocking down a clutch baseline floater, putting the Lakers up six with 48.9 seconds left to seal the game.
To go along with his monster 39-point night, Davis shot 56% from the floor, even going 1-for-3 from deep, while notching eight rebounds, six assists, and two blocks in 37 minutes of action.
“We felt like we let one go against Minnesota on Friday,” said Davis. “We played some good film on ways we could be better.”
Austin Reaves finished second on the team with 16 points on 3-for-5 shooting from three, adding eight assists, two rebounds, one steal, and one block in 27 minutes.
Jarred Vanderbilt finished with the game's highest plus/minus of +25 with 10 points, 13 rebounds, four assists, and a steal in 23 minutes.
Troy Brown Jr. gave the Lakers versatility in a high-minute effort, playing 41 minutes. Brown Jr. knocked down four shots from three on 57% shooting from deep, going 50% overall, and adding eight rebounds and two assists in 41 minutes played.
The Lakers’ next matchup comes on Tuesday at home against the Memphis Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. on Spectrum SportsNet and TNT. The Grizzlies will be without all-star Ja Morant in that matchup after being suspended two games for showing a handgun on Instagram Live.
