Lakers add Dwayne Bacon and Matt Ryan to their roster.

On Media Day, the Lakers announced they added 6'6 guard Dwayne Bacon and 6'7 forward Matt Ryan to their roster for Tuesday’s start of training camp.

In the 2020–21 season, Bacon appeared in all 72 games for the Magic, starting 50 games for Orlando, averaging 10.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 25.7 minutes per game. Across his four-year career, starting with the Charlotte Hornets in 2017–20 and with the Magic in 2020-21, 27-year-old Bacon has averaged 7.3 points. 2.6 rebounds and 1.1 assists in his career.

During the 2021–22 G League season, Ryan appeared in 30 regular season G League games last season for Grand Rapids and Maine, starting 20 of those 30 games. In those 30 games, Ryan recorded 19.4 points. 3.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists while shooting 41.5 percent from 3-point range. Last season, Ryan appeared in one game for the Boston Celtics, tallying three points and one steal in five minutes.

It’s not all guaranteed that either of these players will make the Lakers' regular season roster, but being a difference maker with promise on a team that needs playmakers can easily help their way into a roster spot for the 2022–23 Lakers.
