Dodgers clinch NL West.

For the 9th time in 10 years, the Dodgers clinch their division NL West with a current 98–43 record. With their 4–0 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Dodgers are on pace to set franchise records for wins (106 wins) and winning percentage in a season (.6818).

“There’s still a lot of work, a lot of baseball in front of us,” Justin Turner said, “But couldn’t be happier for all the guys in the room.”

After clinching the NL West, manager Dave Roberts praised long-time Dodger and future hall of fame Clayton Kershaw for his outing in their win over the Diamondbacks.

“When you think of Dodger baseball, you think of Clayton Kershaw,” Roberts said.

In 2019 the Dodgers won 106 games, then matched it in 2021. In between, they were 43–17 (.717) in the pandemic-shortened 2020 to set the team record for winning percentage.

Putting aside that 2021 shortened season, the next highest winning percentage for a full season was held by the 1953 Dodgers at 105–49 (.6818). To beat that this year, the Dodgers need 111 wins, which would require a 13–8 finish for the rest of the season.

To beat 106 wins this year, the Dodgers need to win at least 9 out of their final 21 games.

An even further longshot, for the Dodgers to beat the highest wins in a season (116), they’ll have to win out 19 of their final 21 games.

The 1906 Cubs and the 2001 Mariners were the highest-win total ball clubs in MLB history, with the Cubs going went 116–36 and the Mariners going 116–46.
