Dodgers first to clinch postseason berth.
For the 10th straight season, the Dodgers clinched a playoff berth after a crushing 11–2 win over division rival San Diego Padres at Petco Park. The Dodgers are the first team in the majors to clinch a playoff berth with their MLB-best 93–42 record.
“Our best baseball is yet to be played,” Dave Roberts said, “It’s an accomplishment, but we have a lot of work to do.”
With 23 games left in the season, the Dodgers got a 20.0 game lead over their next division rival (Padres, 77–64) with a current overall win percentage of .691% (96–43).
After their win against the Padres, the whole clubhouse mentality was expressive toward their main goal of unfinished business, with Max Muncy saying: “We will acknowledge it in the clubhouse, but the goal is still not over. Muncy added, “We still have a lot of work to do.”
The Dodgers’ decade-long playoff streak has them at third all-time in NL/AL history, trailing the Yankees (13 straight seasons, 95–07) and the Braves (14 straight seasons, 91–05).
